Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK. New facilities are opening at an extraordinary rate, and with that growth comes an increasing demand for professional, high-quality audio installations. Whether you're building a brand-new padel centre or upgrading an existing leisure facility, getting the sound system right is one of the most impactful decisions you can make for your customers' experience.
At Audio Volt, we've been supplying and specifying audio systems for padel courts and multi-use leisure facilities across the UK. In this guide, we'll walk you through what to consider, how we approach these installations, and the kind of equipment we regularly specify, so you know exactly what to expect.
A padel centre is rarely just a padel centre. Most modern facilities are multi-use venues that might include:
Padel Courts - large, open, often glass-walled spaces requiring powerful, room-filling sound
Café or Social Areas - relaxed environments where ambient background music sets the atmosphere
Changing Rooms - background music at low levels, keeping things comfortable and private-feeling
Pilates Studios, Fitness Suites or Class Rooms - spaces with their own independent audio needs, often requiring Bluetooth connectivity for instructors
Each of these spaces has a completely different audio requirement. The padel courts need loud, energetic, motivational music that can cut through the noise of an active game. The café needs something subtle and atmospheric. The changing rooms need low-level background music. The fitness studio might need a completely independent system the instructor can control themselves.
This is why a single-zone, single-amplifier setup simply won't work for most padel facilities. Multi-zone audio is almost always the answer.
A multi-zone audio system allows different areas of your venue to play different music, at different volumes, from different sources, all independently controlled. A member of staff can turn up the energy in the courts, lower the volume in the café when it gets busy, and leave the fitness studio running its own playlist entirely.
The way this is achieved varies depending on the size and complexity of your facility, but the core concept is consistent: a central audio matrix or mixer routes different audio signals to different amplifiers and speaker zones.
Depending on the layout of your facility, you might run a mix of system types across different zones:
Low Impedance (PA-style) systems for the padel courts, where high volume, clarity and power are essential
100V Line systems for background music areas like cafés, changing rooms and reception, where simplicity, flexibility and reliability are key
Below, we'll walk through two real-world systems we've recently installed for padel and leisure facilities, to give you a clear picture of how this works in practice.
This system was installed for a facility with two key areas: the main padel courts and a café. The customer needed powerful, impactful sound on the courts and relaxed background music in the café, with easy independent control for staff.
The heart of this system was the Intusonic HMA72, a 2-zone audio matrix that allows independent source selection and volume control per zone. Two Intusonic HZE11 wall-mounted controllers were installed at convenient staff-accessible locations, giving team members the ability to switch sources and adjust volume in each zone without having to access the equipment rack. Clean, simple, professional.
The padel courts required serious volume and coverage across a large, open, acoustically challenging space. For this, we specified a Citronic H3200 2 x 1600W Power Amplifier driving 6 x Citronic CUBA-12 Full Range PA Speakers. The CUBA-12 is a wall-mountable full-range PA cabinet that delivers the kind of punchy, energetic sound padel players expect — loud enough to be heard clearly over the noise of an active game, without distortion or fatigue.

For the café, the requirement was entirely different. A relaxed, ambient soundscape called for a much more modest setup. An Adastra RS241 240W 100V Line Slave Amplifier powered 4 x Fonestar SONORA-5T ceiling speakers, delivering consistent, even background music coverage throughout the space. The 100V Line setup made installation clean and cost-effective, and the result is a pleasant listening environment that complements the café atmosphere perfectly.

This larger installation covered four distinct zones across a full-service leisure facility. The first three zones were managed centrally, while the fourth — a Pilates studio — required complete independence so instructors could manage their own audio without affecting the rest of the venue.
The Tascam MZ-123BT is a rackmount 3-zone mixer with built-in Bluetooth, making it ideal for reception desk or back-of-house operation. Three independently controlled outputs fed three separate amplifiers serving the courts, café, and changing rooms respectively. Its Bluetooth input means staff can stream music directly from a phone or tablet without additional equipment.
As with System 1, the courts demanded serious power. A Citronic H3200 2 x 1600W Power Amplifier drove 4 x Citronic CUBA-12 Full Range PA Speakers, wall-mounted to a mezzanine level overlooking the courts — an ideal position for even coverage across the playing areas.
An Adastra UA120 120W 100V Line Mixer Amplifier powered 4 x AudioKraft CS-30T 6.5" Ceiling Speakers for clean, unobtrusive background music coverage throughout the café space. The UA120's onboard mixing capabilities also give the option to connect additional inputs locally if needed.

Changing rooms typically only need modest coverage — a consistent low-level background to fill the space. An Adastra UA60 60W 100V Line Mixer Amplifier with 2 x AudioKraft CS-30T 6.5" Ceiling Speakers did exactly that. Simple, tidy, and effective.
The Pilates studio needed to be completely separate from the rest of the venue. Instructors needed to play their own music — often curated class playlists — without any interference from or with the main system. For this, we installed an Adastra UX120 100V Line Mixer Amplifier locally within the studio space, driving 4 x AudioKraft CS-30T 6.5" Ceiling Speakers. The UX120 features built-in Bluetooth, allowing instructors to connect their phone or tablet instantly and stream music directly — exactly what they needed, with no complexity.

Speaker selection for padel courts deserves particular attention. The environment is acoustically challenging — large, often high-ceilinged spaces with glass walls that can cause reflections and reverberation. You need speakers that are:
Powerful enough to fill the space at a volume that motivates players without distorting
Wide-dispersion to ensure even coverage across the court
Wall or ceiling mountable in a way that doesn't interfere with play or safety
For the courts themselves, we favour full-range PA-style wall-mount speakers such as the Citronic CUBA series for their output, build quality and value. For smaller courts or lower-ceiling facilities, alternative options may be appropriate — our team will always advise based on the specific dimensions and acoustic properties of your space.
Not necessarily. Our systems are designed with straightforward installation in mind, and we supply full documentation, wiring guidance and pre-sale advice as standard. That said, for larger or more complex multi-zone installations we would always recommend involving a qualified audio installer or AV professional to ensure the system is set up correctly and safely.
If you're unsure, our team is happy to walk you through the design and advise on whether professional installation is something you should consider.
We're not a generalist electronics retailer. Audio Volt specialises exclusively in commercial and background audio, and we've worked on everything from single-room installations to multi-zone systems across large leisure facilities. We understand the specific demands of padel centres, and we stock the right equipment to meet them.
