KEF LS50 Meta Premium Bookshelf Speakers (Pair)

The KEF LS50 Meta is a pair of Premium 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers featuring the world's first Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) and 12th generation Uni-Q driver array — delivering exceptionally pure, transparent and immersive sound with every spot in the room becoming the sweet spot.
Great loudspeakers disappear, leaving just the music. The KEF LS50 Meta is exactly such a loudspeaker. Building on the legacy of the legendary original LS50, the LS50 Meta delivers an incredibly immersive sound that lets you lose yourself in your favourite music, savouring every nuance as layer upon layer of instrumentation is delivered with exceptional acoustic accuracy — wherever you are in the room. As the world's first loudspeaker to incorporate Metamaterial Absorption Technology, the LS50 Meta represents a genuine technological leap forward in compact loudspeaker design.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT)
At the heart of the LS50 Meta's breakthrough performance is Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) — a highly complex, maze-like structure positioned behind the driver that absorbs 99% of the unwanted sound radiating from the rear of the driver. By eliminating this previously unavoidable source of distortion, MAT delivers a purer, more natural and significantly more accurate sound than has previously been possible in a loudspeaker of this size.
12th Generation Uni-Q with MAT
Using advanced simulation and analysis tools, KEF's engineers have developed the 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with integrated MAT — delivering reduced colouration, lower distortion and a sound that is more transparent and life-like than any previous Uni-Q generation. Compared to the 11th generation Uni-Q used in the original LS50, the new array delivers a 40% improvement in frequency response smoothness, with mid-band THD reduced to just 0.07% at 90dB/1m thanks to a redesigned driver motor. Driver rearward sound absorption reaches an exceptional 99% courtesy of MAT, compared to 60% achieved by the vented tweeter design used in the original LS50. The result is sound that disperses evenly throughout the room, ensuring every listening position delivers an equally compelling performance.
Curved Baffle & Flexible Port Design
The LS50 Meta's low-diffraction curved baffle is precision modelled around the Uni-Q driver array, with smooth curved surfaces that radiate sound across the baffle without interference from hard edges that would otherwise cause diffraction — resulting in cleaner, more precise sound reproduction. The patented off-set flexible port has been engineered using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to calculate the optimal port flare and profile, delaying the onset of turbulence whilst the flexible port walls prevent resonances from colouring the midrange. The result is improved clarity, with exceptional depth and detail across the frequency range.
Braced for Action
The LS50 Meta's baffle is engineered from an injection-moulded Dough Moulding Compound (DMC), whilst internal cross bracing and Constrained Layer Damping (CLD) work together to deaden internal cabinet vibrations. This meticulous attention to structural detail results in the lowest colouration of any speaker in its class, ensuring the cabinet itself adds nothing unwanted to the sound.
Designed & Finished to Perfection
Every aspect of the LS50 Meta has been considered for both acoustic benefit and visual design. The low-diffraction curved front baffle is subtly mirrored by a gently radiused rear panel, where both the port exit and speaker terminals have been elegantly recessed and visually softened. More than simply a high-performance loudspeaker, the LS50 Meta is a genuine piece of sculptural design — available in a choice of four stunning finishes: Carbon Black, Mineral White, Moss Green and Sand Shell — please select your preferred colour before adding to basket.

60 Day Returns Policy
We ask that you follow these guidelines to help us process your return as quickly and efficiently as possible:
- Please keep your order reference to hand. This confirms your original order and gives us the necessary details to authorise the product's return.
- Contact our Customer Services Team on 02476 369890 (or email info@audiovolt.co.uk). We will then send you an RMA number and a returns form, which needs to be completed and sent back with the returned item(s).
- If the order has been unpacked, re-package it to ensure that it is being returned in its original condition. Please make sure all items relating to the product are returned, including manuals and cables.
- When returning an item, please obtain a proof of postage receipt from the courier.
Returned items must be mailed within 10 days of when the RMA number has been issued. Items received with a post date 30 days after your requested return will NOT be eligible for refund.
Please note: our returns policy is quite straightforward, but there are a number of conditions that we ask our customers to comply with before applying:
- It is your responsibility to request a return. If you don't tell us you want to make a return, we don't know. Once you do tell us, we will do everything we can to action it.
- If you have not requested a return within 60 days of receiving an order, we will assume that you are intending to keep it, and we will not authorise a return.
- We always refund the payment according to how the original purchase was made and aim to do so within 72 hours of the return being received by us.
- Returned goods are liable for a restocking fee of 15% towards handling and repackaging if the order is not returned in its original, unopened packaging. This charge will be subject to our inspection of the returned goods.
