The JBL Control 85M is a 5.25" 2-Way Highly Weather-Resistant Landscape Speaker delivering 360° horizontal coverage, 80W continuous pink noise power handling and both 70V/100V line and 8 Ohm operation.

A compact, mushroom-style garden speaker built for hotels, resorts, pool areas, hospitality venues, theme parks and a wide range of professional outdoor audio installations.

The JBL Control 85M is a highly weather-resistant mushroom-style landscape loudspeaker designed to deliver professional-quality music and paging audio across outdoor environments where conventional loudspeakers would be inappropriate or impractical. Its compact, low-profile design allows it to blend seamlessly into landscaping, shrubbery and garden areas whilst its distinctive 360° horizontal and 160° vertical coverage pattern ensures even, consistent sound distribution across the entire surrounding listening space.

Suitable for hotels, casinos, pool areas, shopping malls, theme parks, sports venues, resorts, restaurants, hospitality and leisure venues, entranceways and any outdoor environment where high-quality background music or paging capability is required, the Control 85M combines premium JBL acoustic performance with the rugged weather resistance and practical installation features demanded by professional outdoor AV installations.

Exceptional Weather Resistance & Durable Construction

The Control 85M is built to withstand the most demanding outdoor environments with confidence. The tough hunter green Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) enclosure — rated UL94V-0 for fire resistance — resists damage from lawn care equipment and the elements, with the green colour extending throughout the material so the speaker maintains its appearance even when scraped or scratched. The powder-coated stainless steel grille resists rusting, and all external hardware is stainless steel for long-term corrosion resistance. The speaker carries an IP56 rating per IEC529 — dust protected and protected against strong jets of water — and exceeds MilSpec 810 for humidity, salt spray, temperature and UV resistance, as well as passing Mil-Std-202F for salt spray. The two-part enclosure opens with a twist for wiring access and closes securely, with the bottom base section forming a fully isolated chamber that keeps both the speaker drivers and transformer highly isolated from moisture ingress. Two stages of gland nuts — one mounted on the outside of the enclosure and one positioned between the base and speaker sections — maintain a water-tight seal when used with round-jacketed cable between 4.0mm and 9.0mm outside diameter.

Premium 2-Way Driver Configuration

The Control 85M features a 135mm (5.25") low-frequency driver with a Kapton former, 35.5mm (1.4") voice coil, polypropylene cone and polyurethane surround — all materials chosen specifically for high power handling, superior moisture resistance and long-term reliability in outdoor environments. The 19mm (0.75") high-frequency driver utilises a Polyetherimide (PEI) dome for high rigidity, strength and high-temperature resistance, with a SonicGuard protected HF driver for long-term reliability during occasional overdriving. A high-slope 2nd order crossover on both the low and high frequency sections provides natural sonic character and smooth driver integration across the 55Hz to 18kHz frequency range.

100V Line & Low Impedance Flexibility

The Control 85M incorporates a high-quality 30W multi-tap transformer for use on 70V or 100V distributed loudspeaker lines, with tappings at 30W, 15W, 7.5W and 3.8W at 70V, and 30W, 15W and 7.5W at 100V — providing comprehensive flexibility for integration into large-scale distributed audio systems. A switchable 8 Ohm direct voice-coil setting provides 80W continuous pink noise (160W program, 320W peak) power handling for direct amplifier connection in smaller systems. Insertion loss is less than 1.0dB at any tap setting for clean, accurate audio across the distributed system.

Practical Installation Features

The Control 85M's two-part twist-open enclosure allows the bottom base section to be pre-installed and wired before the top speaker section is attached — simplifying installation significantly. Multiple locations on the bottom and sides of the enclosure accommodate the installer-supplied gland nut, installed via a 22mm diameter hole drilled in the chosen location. Three attachment points on the bottom section allow the speaker to be secured to the ground via third-party ground stakes. The speaker is UL certified per UL1480 for outdoor wet locations and carries CSA certification. Wire nuts, gland nuts and a security screwdriver are included in the box.

Orders over £99.00 will be delivered FREE of charge via our Standard UK Delivery Service (2-3 days, UK Mainland).

All orders below £99.00 will be sent at a rate of £3.99 per order (2-3 days, UK Mainland).

Do you require your item before 12 pm? We offer a Premium Delivery, Next Day Tracked, Pre 12 service at a cost of £14.99.

Cut-off Times

Orders must be placed before 3:30 pm to guarantee
same-day dispatch. Any orders placed after this time are not guaranteed
to be shipped the same day, and are more likely to be shipped the next
working day.

To guarantee Saturday Delivery, orders must ideally be placed before 2 pm.

We operate during office hours, Mon-Fri, 9 am - 5 pm,
and are closed during the weekend. Orders placed over the weekend or
Friday after cut-off will be processed and shipped the following Monday.

Due to our location relative to the Scottish Highlands & Islands,
we cannot offer a next-day service. Items being sent to the following

Delivery Notes

On delivery, you must inspect the goods carefully for damage as Audio
Volt is unable to accept responsibility for damage in transit, shortage
of delivery or loss of products unless the customer advises Audio Volt
of such within three working days from the date of delivery.

EU Import Tax

Any goods shipped outside of the UK, over a certain value, will incur an import tax. The cost and rate will depend on the country and the order value.

This is a legal requirement and MUST be paid prior to delivery in order to receive your goods. You will be contacted by the courier once the order is dispatched to pay the fee.

Failure to pay import tax when applicable will result in the order
being shipped back to Audio Volt. Any returned goods sent back to us due
to non-payment of import tax are NOT ELIGIBLE for a refund on the
shipping charge.

60 Day Returns Policy

We ask that you follow these guidelines to help us process your return as quickly and efficiently as possible:

1. Please
keep your order reference to hand. This confirms your original order
and gives us the necessary details to authorise the product’s return.

2. Contact our Customer Services Team on 02476 369890 (or e-mail info@audiovolt.co.uk). We will then send you an RMA number and a returns form, which needs to be completed and sent back with the returned item(s).

3. (If
the order has been unpacked) re-package it to ensure that it is being
returned in its original condition. Please make sure all items relating
to the product are returned, including manuals and cables.

4. When returning an item, please obtain a ‘proof of postage’ receipt from the Courier.

Returned
items must be mailed within 10 days of when the RMA Number has been
issued. Items received with a post date 30 days after your requested
return will NOT be eligible for refund.

Please note:
Our returns policy is quite straightforward, but there are a number of
conditions that we ask our customers to comply with before applying:

1. It
is your responsibility to request a return. If you don’t tell us you
want to make a return, we don’t know. Once you do tell us, we will do
everything we can to action it.

2. If you have
not requested a return within 60 days of receiving an order, we will
assume that you are intending to keep it, and we will not authorise a
return.

3. We always refund the payment
according to how the original purchase was made and aim to do so within
72 hours of the return being received by us.

4. Returned
goods are liable for a restocking fee of 15% towards handling and
repackaging if the order is not returned in its original, unopened
packaging. This charge will be subject to our inspection of the returned
goods.

5. Delivery charges will not be refunded unless the delivered goods are faulty.

6. Replacement products are dispatched immediately after the returned goods have been received and accepted by Audio Volt.

7. Items
that develop a fault within 30 days of delivery are eligible for a
replacement or a refund. Delivery costs are also reimbursed for faulty

believe your item has developed a fault.

Finally, please remember
that notifying us of your intention to apply for a return, saving the
delivery paperwork and keeping the order in its original packaging will
help both you and Audio Volt to process the return quickly.
