The JBL Control 89MS is a highly weather-resistant 8" Mushroom-Style Landscape Subwoofer delivering 115dB peak SPL and a frequency range extending down to 40Hz, with a built-in 80W subwoofer-band 70V/100V multi-tap transformer and IP56 rating.

The ideal low-frequency companion to the JBL Control 80 Series landscape speakers for hotels, hospitality venues, gardens, entranceways and commercial outdoor audio installations.

The JBL Control 89MS is a purpose-built outdoor landscape subwoofer designed to augment the low-frequency performance of the JBL Control 80 Series landscape speakers — and other compatible outdoor loudspeaker systems — with rich, powerful and weather-resistant bass reinforcement in lawn, garden and entranceway areas. Suitable for hotels, restaurants, hospitality and retail complexes, shopping centres, theme parks, sports venues, resorts and any outdoor commercial environment where deep, clean and controlled bass is required alongside a landscape loudspeaker system, the Control 89MS delivers 115dB peak SPL and a frequency range reaching down to 40Hz from a compact, low-profile mushroom-style enclosure that blends naturally into outdoor landscaping and garden settings. The sleek, attractive design ensures the subwoofer remains visually unobtrusive in the most carefully maintained commercial outdoor environments.

Long-Throw 8" Down-Firing Driver for Deep, Powerful Bass

At the heart of the Control 89MS is a 200mm (8") long-throw down-firing subwoofer driver, specifically engineered for outdoor use with a waterproof and highly corrosion-resistant polypropylene injection cone, a long-excursion corrosion-resistant TPV (thermoplastic vulcanizate) surround and a large 50mm (2") voice coil on a glass fibre and polyamide coil former. The large voice coil and long-excursion surround provide the high power handling and displacement capability needed for deep, controlled bass reproduction in demanding outdoor environments — handling 150W continuous pink noise (300W program, 600W peak) in the 8 Ohm setting. The down-firing driver configuration, combined with the ground-loading effect of the 360° horizontal coverage pattern, maximises bass output efficiency for deep, impactful low-frequency reproduction across the surrounding listening area.

Subwoofer-Band Multi-Tap Transformer with Dual-Slope Crossover

The Control 89MS incorporates a premium-grade 80W subwoofer-band multi-tap transformer specifically designed for subwoofer frequency operation — not a general-purpose full-range transformer — ensuring optimal performance and accurate reproduction across the 40Hz to 150Hz subwoofer operating range. 70V tappings are available at 80W, 40W, 20W and 10W, and 100V tappings at 80W, 40W and 20W, with a tap selector and 8 Ohm bypass for direct low-impedance operation. The built-in dual-slope low-pass crossover begins with a gentle slope at the crossover frequency and transitions to a steeper slope at higher frequencies, creating a balanced, natural-sounding subwoofer transition regardless of whether the system is driven from a full-range or a dedicated subwoofer amplifier channel.

IP56 Weatherproof Construction

The Control 89MS carries an IP56 rating per IEC529 — dust protected and protected against strong jets of water from any direction — and exceeds MilSpec 810 for humidity, salt spray, temperature and UV resistance, as well as passing Mil-Std-202F for salt spray. The tough LDPE polyethylene enclosure features a minimum 6mm wall thickness with UL94V-HB rating and colour extending throughout the material, so the enclosure maintains its hunter green appearance even when scraped or scratched during routine grounds maintenance. The powder-coated stainless steel grille and all-stainless hardware resist rusting for long-term outdoor durability.

The two-part twist-open enclosure allows the bottom base section to be pre-installed and wired before the top speaker section is attached. A fully sealed centre chamber and water-tight bulkhead between the base and speaker sections keep the driver and transformer highly isolated from moisture ingress, and two stages of gland nuts — one exterior and one in the internal bulkhead — provide double water ingress protection for the cable entry point. Three attachment points on the bottom section allow the Control 89MS to be secured to the ground via third-party ground stakes.

Cut-off Times

Orders must be placed before 3:30 pm to guarantee
same-day dispatch. Any orders placed after this time are not guaranteed
to be shipped the same day, and are more likely to be shipped the next
working day.

To guarantee Saturday Delivery, orders must ideally be placed before 2 pm.

We operate during office hours, Mon-Fri, 9 am - 5 pm,
and are closed during the weekend. Orders placed over the weekend or
Friday after cut-off will be processed and shipped the following Monday.

Due to our location relative to the Scottish Highlands & Islands,
we cannot offer a next-day service. Items being sent to the following
postcodes will carry a minimum of 2 days' lead time.

Delivery Notes

On delivery, you must inspect the goods carefully for damage as Audio
Volt is unable to accept responsibility for damage in transit, shortage
of delivery or loss of products unless the customer advises Audio Volt
of such within three working days from the date of delivery.

EU Import Tax

Any goods shipped outside of the UK, over a certain value, will incur an import tax. The cost and rate will depend on the country and the order value.

This is a legal requirement and MUST be paid prior to delivery in order to receive your goods. You will be contacted by the courier once the order is dispatched to pay the fee.

Failure to pay import tax when applicable will result in the order
being shipped back to Audio Volt. Any returned goods sent back to us due
to non-payment of import tax are NOT ELIGIBLE for a refund on the
shipping charge.

60 Day Returns Policy

We ask that you follow these guidelines to help us process your return as quickly and efficiently as possible:

1. Please
keep your order reference to hand. This confirms your original order
and gives us the necessary details to authorise the product’s return.

2. Contact our Customer Services Team on 02476 369890 (or e-mail info@audiovolt.co.uk). We will then send you an RMA number and a returns form, which needs to be completed and sent back with the returned item(s).

3. (If
the order has been unpacked) re-package it to ensure that it is being
returned in its original condition. Please make sure all items relating
to the product are returned, including manuals and cables.

4. When returning an item, please obtain a ‘proof of postage’ receipt from the Courier.

Returned
items must be mailed within 10 days of when the RMA Number has been
issued. Items received with a post date 30 days after your requested
return will NOT be eligible for refund.

Please note:
Our returns policy is quite straightforward, but there are a number of
conditions that we ask our customers to comply with before applying:

1. It
is your responsibility to request a return. If you don’t tell us you
want to make a return, we don’t know. Once you do tell us, we will do
everything we can to action it.

2. If you have
not requested a return within 60 days of receiving an order, we will
assume that you are intending to keep it, and we will not authorise a
return.

3. We always refund the payment
according to how the original purchase was made and aim to do so within
72 hours of the return being received by us.

4. Returned
goods are liable for a restocking fee of 15% towards handling and
repackaging if the order is not returned in its original, unopened
packaging. This charge will be subject to our inspection of the returned
goods.

5. Delivery charges will not be refunded unless the delivered goods are faulty.

6. Replacement products are dispatched immediately after the returned goods have been received and accepted by Audio Volt.

7. Items
that develop a fault within 30 days of delivery are eligible for a
replacement or a refund. Delivery costs are also reimbursed for faulty

believe your item has developed a fault.

Finally, please remember
that notifying us of your intention to apply for a return, saving the
delivery paperwork and keeping the order in its original packaging will
help both you and Audio Volt to process the return quickly.
