Project Overview
El Murrino Beachside Kitchen is a casual seafront restaurant situated directly on Bournemouth Beach. Following the successful installation of an indoor sound system at their other venue further inland, the owners returned to us to design and supply another audio system for their new outdoor dining area.
The Sound System Explained
This space needed a durable audio system that could handle the harsh coastal environment, such as rain, wind, and salty sea spray, while providing clear background music during the day and enough volume for busier evenings.
Fonestar SONORA-6TB Wall Speakers
For the outdoor dining space at El Murrino Beachside Kitchen, the choice of speaker needed to balance subtle design with high performance, which is why we chose the Fonestar SONORA-6TB.
These wall-mounted speakers are built for tough environments, with an IP66 weather rating to handle rain, sea spray, and strong coastal winds. Their UV-protected finish ensures they stay looking clean and bright, even under constant sun exposure. This was especially important in this case as El Murrino opted for white speakers, and being under the sun all day can turn white speakers yellow over time.
They also sound excellent in a variety of situations. With a 6” woofer and 1” tweeter, the SONORA-6TB provides clear, rich audio that’s ideal for background music during the day but can easily be turned up for busier evening service without losing clarity.
A wide dispersion angle means fewer speakers can cover more of the outdoor area. This helped keep the sound even and balanced across the space, avoiding dead spots or areas that felt too loud.

Monacor PA-9100D Mixer Amplifier
To power the outdoor speaker system at El Murrino Beachside Kitchen, we chose the Monacor PA-9100D - a powerful and reliable 1000W 100V line amplifier built for demanding commercial setups.
This amp easily handled the ten Fonestar SONORA-6TB speakers, each set at their full 60W tap, while leaving headroom to add more speakers in the future without risking overload or reduced sound quality.
As a mixer amplifier, it offered multiple inputs for music sources, giving the venue flexibility to connect a laptop, media player, or radio when needed. Importantly for a busy seafront restaurant, it doesn’t have Bluetooth. This prevents guests or passers-by from hijacking the system — a real consideration for open public areas like this.
The built-in priority mic input with talkover also made it easy for staff to make announcements when needed, automatically reducing the music volume for clear, audible messages.

Project Outcome
The installed audio system has made a real difference to the atmosphere at El Murrino Beachside Kitchen. Thanks to the IP66-rated speakers, the system comfortably withstands the rain, wind, and salty sea air, providing reliable, high-quality audio throughout the outdoor area.
Staff can easily adjust the volume to suit the time of day — subtle background music during lunchtime service and a livelier soundtrack in the evening.
